Silver Ball Sculpture

This roundabout sculpture is an original sculpture by Kevin Atherton which was dedicated to the people of Kings Hill in 1994. It is one of a number of interesting pieces of artwork in and around the village.

From this roundabout if you travel straight ahead then Gibson Drive will lead you to Liberty Square- the hub of the village, with its shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and large super.

Along the walkway between the community centre and the Spitfire pub at Liberty Square there is a memorial which was unveiled on 9 June 2002. The memorial features a sculpture of an unnamed airman who was a member of the short-stay squadron or main stay squadron during the war.

Residential Area - Phase One

At the Silver Ball Roundabout a right hand turn onto Forest Way leads to Phase One of the residential area at Kings Hill. There are wooden archways flanking each side of the road at the start of Worcester Avenue which invite you into this part of the village.

Phase One was built and first occupied in 1994. The roads in this area have themed names, associated with apples - such as: Crabtree Close, Pippin Way and Peregrine Road . The houses on this side of the village are longer-established than those in the new phase and are surrounded by mature shrubs and trees. This area features homes built by the following developers: Crest Nicholson, Countryside and Bryant Homes .

Worcester Avenue leads to the village green, which has a childrens' playground area within it.This is a popular spot that is utilised by the locals all year round. The nearby bridle path circles the whole of the Kings Hill village, providing a lovely path for dog-walkers and joggers. Adjacent woodland provides a picturesque sea of bluebells in early spring, and where the bridle path meets the Woodland Walk (at the southern edge of the village), there are views to Mereworth Castle.

Residential Area - Second Phase

Phase Two of the residential housing area at Kings Hill has been extensively developed within the last couple of years. This phase sees a mixture of very contemporary, cutting-edge apartments and houses interspersed with more traditional designs- it has something for everyone!

As you leave Liberty Square along Queen Street you will pass the well-presented, classic-design Crest Nicholson properties.

Further up the road are the impressive Lacuna properties, which are a modern design with huge glass windows and weatherboarding.

Around the corner, Discovery Drive, the main road leading through the Second Phase, meanders past the golf course. The properties along this road are mostly Georgian or country style and, whilst there are some apartments, the majority of properties are family homes. The focal point of this side of the village is the prestigious golf course, which provides a lovely, green and landscaped view and an abundance of interesting people-watching opportunities for the local residents.

As you turn onto Discovery Drive, one of the first sights before you is the impressive tower to the side of an award-winning home designed by Sunley Environ. This sits on the exclusive Kings Hill Park development which features an array of properties, from apartments to impressive five bedroom detached houses.

Continuing along Discovery Drive you will pass the most recent developments by Hillreed Homes, the Gatehouse and Manor Court . The Gatehouse comprises two 4 bedroom detached properties and Manor Court is made up of seven 2 bedroom apartments.

On the opposite side of Discovery Drive is Keepers Field, a Charles Church development of 3-5 bedroom country-style houses. At the end of Discovery drive further development is taking place and we are expecting that within the next year there will be new properties available at this end of the village.

Bovarde Avenue leads from Discovery drive onto the main stretch called Tower View. McAlpine and David Wilson homes are located in Bovarde Avenue and Alfriston Grove.

Roads flanking either side of Tower View feature homes by Countryside and Crest Nicholson. There are a number of popular town house properties along this stretch, and the landscaped frontages continue.
